Senate Committee to Vote Wednesday on Bill to Create Western PA Urban Search and Rescue Team

HARRISBURG – Following a public hearing in August to consider the issue, the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, chaired by Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33), will vote on legislation to create a western Pennsylvania urban search and rescue team on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 8E-A, Main Capitol East Wing.

In addition to Senate Bill 792, the committee also will vote on Senate Bill 933, which was introduced by Mastriano and would create a Statewide Veterans Home Advisory Board within the Office of Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans’ Affairs. The advisory board would help with overseeing, advising and evaluating the operation of the state’s six veterans homes located across Pennsylvania.
